Gudrun Hasle has kept sketchbooks since 2003. She has written and drawn in them for over twenty years. They have become a place where mistakes aren’t hidden but are allowed to remain, and where the things that hurt are given a line or a word that holds them in place.

In this book, the pages are opened—240 pages that offer a rare, firsthand glimpse into an artist’s creative process and internal landscape. Unlike traditional art books, these notes and drawings serve as intimate diaries, making visible the evolution of ideas and emotions. Some sketches later became finished works now displayed around Denmark, providing readers with a behind-the-scenes perspective on their inception.
